Maye has been modeling since the age of 15. She has had four billboards in Times Square in her 60s, probably a record. Now in her 70s, she is the oldest Covergirl who travels the world doing high-fashion campaigns.
In 1997, she was the first dietitian to have her book, Feel Fantastic (Macmillan Canada), on cereal boxes.
Maye has run her own nutrition business through speaking, consulting, counseling, writing and media work. She has reached the peak in her field in three countries: the first Representative of the Consulting Dietitians of Southern Africa; President of the Consulting Dietitians of Canada; and Chair of the Nutrition Entrepreneurs, Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition. She also won the Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur Award in the USA.
Her book, A Woman Makes A Plan, is an international best-seller, and in over 70 countries with more to come. In 2021, the book was translated and published in Ukrainian.
Maye continues to give presentations on entrepreneurship, aging, gender equality, single parenting, overcoming challenges, confidence and health to corporations, associations, hospitals and universities. Maye has traveled around the world giving talks in Melbourne, Stockholm, Kyiv, Budapest, Cannes, Beirut and most of the major cities in the USA, Canada and South Africa. In Shanghai, after walking her longest runway at the Shanghai Sports Stadium, she was interviewed by over 30 media outlets.
She is an Ambassador for two non-profits that fit into her two careers: Big Green, building vegetable and fruit gardens in under-served schools; and Dress for Success, a global not-for-profit organization that has helped more than one million women achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, a variety of personal and professional development programs and work attire.
Maye Musk is the mother of SpaceX & Tesla founder Elon Musk, sustainable farm entrepreneur Kimbal Musk, and filmmaker Tosca Musk.
Maye Musk will join IT Arena in an online fireside chat set to take place on Friday, October 8 at 17:30 (EEST). Her talk will concentrate on women’s empowerment and their impact on the development of the tech industry.
